London Toy and Collectable Show

Sunday's are for treasure hunting.

We were snowed in yesterday.

Had tons of time to browse the internet and plan our next adventure to find cool stuff.

Pat came across http://londonshow.blogspot.ca & decided we should get up early and go.

The London Collectables Expo puts on shows all across Ontario. We checked out the Nostalgia Show in Woodstock a few months back with some friends. They had the Oxford Auditorium and the Mutual/Market Buildings on the Woodstock Fairgrounds lined up with hundreds of vendors. We spent hours going through the various booths picking up some great deals and making some wonderful connections.

Today was no different we spent most of our morning getting to know some of the vendors.

And letting them know who we are!

I wasn't there more then ten minutes and I had the local news approach me for an interview. I was completely caught off guard but decided to roll with it!

How fun! talking about the Expo, what my interests are and most importantly allowing me to plug our Blog and Esty shop.

Stay tuned Ill be on Rogers TV on Saturday Night!

I was asked a question I thought was very interesting. I had actually been asking myself the same thing. Where are all the women? With a 1/10 ratio we are certainly out numbered in this environment. Not always a terrible thing but it makes you wonder why aren't more women coming out or setting up tables.

It got me talking to some very nice women starting out in what seems like a man's club of collectors. Debbie from Aylmer says her and her husband have been running the expo circuit for just over two years. It started with a few things and now they collect a variety vintage toys and collectables. She is admitted she started going to the Expo's for her husband, enjoyed going on their weekends. She began to start her own collection of coins though she doesn't claim to be an expert she loves being able to meet experts at the show to compare and swap knowledge. Debbie has a part-time job but spends the majority of her time working the family business at the Trail's End Flea Market  Corner Collectables and Furniture.

Lianne Johnson started going to the shows with her dad, an avid coin collector, they have been going to trade shows for years. She started with a small display at her father's table selling a small collection of her own jewellery. After catching the bug she started going to auctions and little by little her collection grew to her own table. She now has a beautiful collection of antique jewellery she finds all over. She has also started creating original up-cycled decorations from broaches, earrings, necklaces and figurines. Take a look at my Pinterest, I have put some of her PreciousPomPoms on my board Flea Market Finds.

We really enjoyed our morning, browsing the collections and finding some new treasures.

Our next step is to get GoesRound a booth at an upcoming show.

Stay Tuned.
